Baroness Patricia Scotland of Asthal has a habit of changing history. In 1991, she became the first black woman ever to be appointed as Queen’s Counsel, in 1997 she became life member of the House of Lords and in 2007 she went on to become the first female Attorney General. Born in the Commonwealth of Dominica as the tenth child of twelve, her life was a pursuit of Radical proportions from an early age. Throughout her remarkable career she has made real inroads towards eliminating domestic violence: her programs reduced the number of reported incidents in the U.K. by 64%.
